Time for another sample, & my decision on whether or not I'd bother with the full-size! I seem to have amassed a lot of Benefit mini products, from their kits, & one of these products is their eye primer - Stay Don't Stray.
The packaging is a mini of the full size.
I've never been too bothered about eye primers because I only remember it after I already have my eyeshadow started.. But I do have oily eyelids & I have to keep my eyes shut for a good minute after doing eyeliner, or it'll smudge & transfer. (That's a lie. This only happens on my left eye. Owner of uneven eyes, right here.)
My lovely uneven eyelids, covered in a layer of Stay Don't Stray.
So seeing as I don't have that much experience, I also don't have very high standards. But boo-hoo, Stay Don't Stray didn't even fully live up to them. It was a nice nude colour & the eyeshadow did apply evenly, looking more pigmented than usual. But throughout the day, my eyeliner transferred a bit & ended up creasing on my eyelids. It was less noticeable than without a primer, but not amaaaaaazing.
My eyes looked grand at first glance
But on closer inspection, eyeshadow has worn off & eyeliner has creased in the little laughter lines on my lids..
So: I probably won't rebuy it. I'll use this one, especially for nights out, to help with application & pigmentation but I don't think it'll last all day so not really a daily thing. It does make me want to try new primers!
A full-size tube is €28.50 for 10ml, & my mini one is 2.5ml.
What eye primer do you use?

Very Lovely Stuff now has a Facebook page. Just in case you want to give it a quick like :)
I have uneven lids too (very conscious about it) I haven't tried it myself but I have heard great things about the Essence I heart stage primer :)
ReplyDeleteI hate wearing false eyelashes because it makes ones of my eyes look so much smaller! I've seen that on stands so I might pick it up :)
DeleteI'm so like you. I have all the eyshadow thrown on when I finally notice the unused eye primer sitting in the corner. On the few times I have used it, the essence primer is really great. Also, just to let you know, I have nominated you for the liebster award over on my blog If you would like to check it out, just click on the link below

Oh I feel like I need to try the Essence one now, it's probably like 1/5th of the price! Thanks a million Clodagh :)
DeleteI'd have thought this would be much better considering the price of it! I use an NYC primer from an eye kit, it's fab. My sister's eyemakeup is always perfect and I think she uses a W7 one x
ReplyDeleteI know, I wish I had something else to compare it to! I'm going to have a look at a few cheaper options x
DeleteGood post. Nice to read blog posts with real pictures of how the product works.

Thanks Jules :) I prefer seeing posts with the product actually being used! xx
DeleteI wasn't impressed with this one either - yay for samples and trying before you buy!
ReplyDeleteI'm very glad I didn't pay for the full size!
